Crave

Energy Drink Review of Crave: A powdered energy drink brings their own formula to the high-octane beverages industry.

Mix the powder with water and you get a bright green drink with loads of smooth energy.

The first thing you taste is a Kool-Aid-like cotton candy flavor…but the first aftertaste is very bitter and medicinal. The second aftertaste is even stronger but less bitter, like TheraFlu. It is drinkable – just like TheraFlu. You can control your rations, since you’re mixing with water, and a couple testers preferred shooting the drink with a half-cup of water.

Crave comes from Vitamark, and it’s being sold like Mary Kay. A powdered energy drink is a unlikely but brilliant idea, which they’ve done a decent job of executing.

Crave comes in a little 2-serving size packet – portable, won’t get cold on you, easy to share, and it’s a much better price than its canned older siblings. It’s even healthier than most of the competition. So how does it compare on taste and energy?

The package claims their goal in creating this product is: “To give you the energy you want with no jitters, headaches or let-down, better taste (with no after-taste), a much better price, and to make it convenient & portable.” Crave is all of these things but one.

Obviously there’s much better tasting options out there. However, if you’re willing to sacrifice taste for convenience and cost, pick up a box and mix up a drink.

Tab Energy Drink Review

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Energy Drink Review of Tab: Light, pink-colored, sweet & fun drink from Coca-Cola.

Tab Energy provides a cruise-control kind of energy for about five hours.

There is something nostalgic in that first sip: a candy flavor similar to strawberry or watermelon pixie stix, and very fizzy.

If you liked the movie 13 Going On 30, you’ll probably like this drink. The soda is colored barely pink. It is fun and festive – perfect for a New Year’s party – celebrate the old, ring in the new.

The sleek design and crimson color of the can and the fact that it contains only 5 calories probably makes Tab Energy most appealing to women. When I’ve only had 4 hours of sleep, this drink helps me get through my day.

NOS Energy Drink Review

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Energy Drink Review of NOS: A high-powered energy drink named after the nitrous oxide injection equipment for cars. Unlike its namesake, it’s an enjoyable beverage for any day you’re dragging.

I questioned whether it was all in my mind that this drink seemed to provide a boost beyond any other I’ve tried recently… but then I checked the Caffeine Database.

NOS contains 25 mg of caffeine per oz, compared to Mountain Dew at 4.58 mg/oz or even Full Throttle at 8.81 mg/oz. Factor in taurine, B12, and you’ll feel that horsepower increase you’d expect from a drink branded with the NOS logo.

It’s easy to drink, with somewhat of a grapefruit / citrus taste to it.

NOS delivers. It’s the drink I’ll go to if I need a boost and don’t want to take a chance on something new. This is a EDB Recommended Beverage.
