Hype Energy Drink Review

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Hype Energy Drink Review: How’d they score the hype.com domain is a good question. How’d they score on our EDB rating? is a better question. Short answer: this is good stuff.

Hype’s small can doesn’t pack in the power; if you’re looking for a stay-up-all-night-playing-Halo kick, this wouldn’t do. Hype works well as a daily boost – easy to drink, no crash after the energy wears off.

This drink easily won fans on the BoostAdvisor team – 4 out of 5 people really enjoyed the flavor. Its berry flavor is a refreshing change from the more common citrus taste.

Some of their marketing is lame, but they’re obviously working on it. The cans originally said “Live Life. Love Life. Love Hype.” We all agreed that this was as weak as it gets.

They removed this, but we think the smaller print could go too – “You’re ready and feeling good! All you need is an extra boost. You need a Hype!”

We thought “Believe the Hype” would be a better slogan. (ed. note – a few months after originally posting this review on the old site, Hype changed their slogan to “Believe the Hype”. We applaud them for paying attention to their fans!)

If the berry flavor doesn’t appeal to you, move on, but at least give it a try. It’s “lightly carbonated” – which really makes it easy to consume on the run. So – delicious, refreshing, and a good kick for a small can. That’s right. Believe the Hype.

Tab Energy Drink Review

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Energy Drink Review of Tab: Light, pink-colored, sweet & fun drink from Coca-Cola.

Tab Energy provides a cruise-control kind of energy for about five hours.

There is something nostalgic in that first sip: a candy flavor similar to strawberry or watermelon pixie stix, and very fizzy.

If you liked the movie 13 Going On 30, you’ll probably like this drink. The soda is colored barely pink. It is fun and festive – perfect for a New Year’s party – celebrate the old, ring in the new.

The sleek design and crimson color of the can and the fact that it contains only 5 calories probably makes Tab Energy most appealing to women. When I’ve only had 4 hours of sleep, this drink helps me get through my day.

NOS Energy Drink Review

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Energy Drink Review of NOS: A high-powered energy drink named after the nitrous oxide injection equipment for cars. Unlike its namesake, it’s an enjoyable beverage for any day you’re dragging.

I questioned whether it was all in my mind that this drink seemed to provide a boost beyond any other I’ve tried recently… but then I checked the Caffeine Database.

NOS contains 25 mg of caffeine per oz, compared to Mountain Dew at 4.58 mg/oz or even Full Throttle at 8.81 mg/oz. Factor in taurine, B12, and you’ll feel that horsepower increase you’d expect from a drink branded with the NOS logo.

It’s easy to drink, with somewhat of a grapefruit / citrus taste to it.

NOS delivers. It’s the drink I’ll go to if I need a boost and don’t want to take a chance on something new. This is a EDB Recommended Beverage.

DareDevil Energy Drink Review

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Energy Drink Review of DareDevil: A brilliant beverage – we dare you to disagree.

The caffeine content is just what you want: 240 mg per 16 oz can. Not over the top, but a serious kick.

The BoostAdvisor team is out there every day, opening cans of drinks you’ve never heard of, and take the first gulp – just for you. Sometimes, gagging ensues, sometimes, we’re really pleasantly surprised.

With the “Live on the Edge” motto on the can, DareDevil had me a little worried. But DareDevil definitely falls under the second category…this is a great tasting drink.

It’s the standard citrus, with a twist – somewhat of a tart aftertaste that leaves you wanting more.

This was a refreshing beverage and seems to be unanimously praised by those that have tried it. So if you don’t like it, you’ll be a social outcast, or at least in the miniority. There’s nothing wrong with that, just go back to your Diet Green Tea and leave the energy drinks to us.

Nice work, DareDevil, this is a great addition to the market.
